Shangri La is a museum for learning about the global culture of Islamic art and design through exhibitions, digital and educational initiatives, public tours and programs, and community partnerships.

In partnership with the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, the Honolulu Museum of Art serves as the orientation center for Shangri La. All tours of Shangri La originate and end at the Honolulu Museum of Art located at 900 S. Beretania Street between Victoria Street and Ward Avenue in Honolulu.

Visitors check in at the Ward Ave entrance for 9:00 a.m. tours and at the main Beretania entrance for all other tours. Guests are transported in a 25 passenger shuttle bus to Shangri La. All guests are required to return to the Honolulu Museum of Art at the end of their tour. There are no exceptions to how guests can visit Shangri La.

Major areas of Shangri La are currently under renovation. Views of the property will be obstructed by construction and visitors will notice heavy machinery and noise.
